1:250 000 Scale National Soil Data

Digital DataThe National Soil Map was published in 1982 and represents the first complete soils coverage of Scotland.

The map is based on fieldwork, using 1:50 000 scale maps and air photograph interpretation, between 1978 and 1981 and incorporates earlier soil surveys undertaken in the lowlands and foothills which are published at 1:63 360 or 1:50 000 scale. The datasets are in raster and vector format from a digitised version of the published paper soil maps.

Primary attributes: Soil Map Unit (of which there are 580)
Other Attributes: pH, soil texture, soil organic matter (others are available, please ask)
Format: 100m resolution raster or vector data in ARC GIS or ASCII format.
Cost: £0.48 per square kilometre up to 10,000 sq km per primary attribute
£0.36 per square kilometre up to 20,000 sq km per primary attribute
£0.27 per square kilometre up to 80,000 sq km per primary attribute
£0.10 per square kilometre up to 80,000 sq km per additional attribute
