MicroResp™ is a novel microplate system used to measure respiration of soil, sediment or water samples using spectrophotometry. It was developed to reduce time, cost, waste and space in the laboratory as well as provide flexibility and ease of use for the researcher.
MicroResp™ overcomes the disadvantages of both sole carbon source growth tests and the limitation of space and time encountered using conventional respiration methods. It measures evolved CO2 from carbon substrate utilisation reflecting activity in the first 4-6 hours as opposed to response to growth.
Applications include soil health; water ecology and toxicity; Community Level Physiological Profiles (CLPP); Pollution Induced Community Tolerance (PICT); toxicity testing; pesticide degradation profiles and bioremediation evaluation.
